Mallika Marshall, MD is the HealthWatch Reporter for WBZ 4 News on WBZ-TV 4 and
UPN 38, and is the only practicing physician/television medical reporter in New England. In addition to her reporting duties in Boston,
Dr. Marshall is also a regular contributor to the CBS Early Show and CBS Newspath. Trained as both a pediatrician and internist, Dr.
Marshall currently practices medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Chelsea 24-Hour Medical Walk-In Clinic, where she treats
both children and adults. She is also on the staff at Harvard Medical School as a Clinical Instructor in Medicine.
Dr. Marshall graduated cum laude from Harvard College and received her medical degree
from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine with honors. She completed her residency training at the Harvard
Combined Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Training Program and is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
During her medical training, Dr. Marshall has received numerous awards including
the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society Award and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award "in recognition of extraordinary
leadership and inspiration in advancing the goals of social and economic justice." In 1996, she received the AMWA Janet M. Glasgow
Memorial Achievement Citation awarded for academic excellence to the top seven women in the graduating class at the UCSF School of
Medicine. She was also named an Exceptional Woman by MAGIC 106.7 in 2003.
Dr. Marshall was an Associate Editor of the Harvard Medical School Family Health
Guide, which was published in 1999, and served as a Contributing Editor for the Harvard Medical School website, InteliHealth.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Dr. Marshall is the daughter of Carole Simpson,
Senior Correspondent for ABC News. Dr. Marshall and her husband, Jason Hurd, are both members of the Harvard Club of Boston and the
Harvard Black Alumni Society of Boston. She gives her time extensively moderating panels and giving speeches throughout Massachusetts
and has recently participated in events sponsored by The Heinz Foundation, The Wellness Community, The Worchester Senior Center, The
National Urban League, Connel School for Nursing, Dress For Success, Freedom House and the Edward Brooke Charter School. Dr. Marshall
enjoys socializing with friends and family, reading murder mysteries and spending quality time with her cat and two-year old puppy.
